Match the barrel section to the process position

A barrel enquiry should identify whether the section is closed, open, used for feeding, or connected to another process function. A matching exterior shape is not enough: the bore geometry, axial length, connections and interface with adjacent sections also need confirmation.

We coordinate enquiries for closed, open and side-feeding barrel sections. Proposed materials, liners and supply details are confirmed individually with the manufacturing partner.

Prepare the technical information

  • Machine model, barrel position and drawing number/revision.
  • Bore dimensions and centre distance according to the drawing.
  • Overall length, flange dimensions and fastening arrangement.
  • Feed, vent or injection openings and their orientation where applicable.
  • Heating, cooling and sensor interfaces that must match existing equipment.
  • Existing construction, proposed material or liner requirements.
  • Wear measurements, original dimensions and inspection method if available.

Document the condition before replacement

Keep measurements linked to the barrel position and measurement location. Comparing records over time is more useful than an isolated photograph. The machine documentation or an agreed engineering specification should define acceptance limits; this website does not prescribe a universal wear limit.

Agree what will be inspected

Discuss the dimensional report and material records needed for your order before purchase. The quotation should state what is included. If an existing heater, cooling connection or neighbouring section must be reused, provide its interface details for review.
